Jana Sanghati Kendra
About Us

Jana Sanghati Kendra (Centre for People’s Solidarity) has been working in West Bengal since 1984. Its primary aim is to support and encourage people’s movements and people’s organizations that are non-party. JSK believes that the lack of strong, self-reliant people’s organization is one of the chief reasons for the persistence of poverty.
JSK works in eleven districts of West Bengal – South and North 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Nadia, Murshidabad, Dinajpurand Birbhum. It has an outreach to over 900 villages in these districts.
JSK has been helping and supporting people in their endeavour to live with dignity, for more than three decades now. With the aim to alleviate poverty in rural West Bengal, the journey of Jana Sanghati Kendra, known for its developmental and voluntary social work in rural areas, began in the year 1984. After overcoming many ups and downs over 36 years, Sanghati Kendra has successfully expanded its reach to remote villages in the districts of North & South 24 Parganas, Nadia, East & West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar.
